Dismissing What She Saw
Maria tried to push what she just saw out of her mind and continued with her walk. Letting her dog off the leash, she saw him sprint around the trees with his tongue wagging and his tail high in the air. Maria laughed at her silly dog, but just as she did that, she heard something. A chill ran down her spine when she heard the sound. What did she hear?

Maria heard something like a muffled scream and it was followed by scratches. She stopped in her tracks and her heart began to race. Where was the sound coming from? What was making the noise? She had so many questions on her mind. It may seem like a crazy idea to follow a noise in the middle of the woods, but that is what her instincts told her, so that is what she did.
