Princess Diana was an exception to the rule, however. The former wife of Prince Charles liked to involve and spend her time with the kids as much as possible. She felt more relatable for doing such a thing.

Diana also knew how to deal with other kids. She always knelt down and looked them right in the face. In 2013, Ingrid Seward of Majesty said, “Diana was the first member of the royal family to do this.” She added, “The royal family used to say that everyone had to be deferential to them. But Diana said, ‘If someone [could] be nervous of you, or you’re speaking to a very young child or a sick person, get yourself on their level.’”
