What the artists had in common more than anything else was to show that he was holy. This is not super different from the intentions of comic book artists when drawing superheroes. It also rings true for classical artists when they make sculptures of Greek gods. Based on these images, it is clear that long hair has been taken to symbolize power. Even to this day, this feature is used to show that a character or person is mighty. It makes sense that the King of Kings would have similarities with characters supposedly just as powerful and strong.
