A Scream
The path in front of Maria slowly darkens. It leads further down into the woods. Even though she felt her stomach was in knots, she needed to carry on. She had to know the truth. Just a minute or so before, she had actually heard a scream. She had to help the person if she could. Fear coursed through her body and she considered just calling the police or running away instead. However, her body would not move and she was rooted to the spot. Then, there was a movement nearby and she felt a shiver run down her spine.

Maria Brooks liked to walk in the woods. She did it whenever she could. Aside from enough water, she always took her trusty earphones so she could listen to a good podcast. There were times when she would lose focus and spend hours inside the forest. That day, Maria walked in the woods like she usually did. However, little did she know that that day was going to be different and it would change her life completely.
