Whatever the possible explanation was, that spring, there had been a bunch of teenagers who decided to target Joey Mason. This had been happening for months and it did appear that this group of teenagers would be there to bully him for all the times and places that Joey went before and after school.

Luckily, Joey was a kid who was strong and brave. He chose to disregard their name-calling. His strength was epitomized by the fact that he could do this. The group did not, however, leave him alone and they even decided to step up their game of abusive behavior.
