Service dogs would usually go on patrol with several officers, but Kyle wouldn’t respond to others the way he did to Officer John. The two made an excellent team and shared a special bond. John adopted Kyle, so the two were on constant duty.

Parting Ways
When Kyle’s time on the force came to an end, John wanted to keep him, but he could not take care of him when he went on duty. He wanted to do what was best for that dog, so he allowed him to be adopted by the Smiths. Officer John, however, certainly felt sad to be away with his partner.
