As he approached the tree, Smith noted that the bark was loose. Kyle began barking loudly. Feeling inspired, Smith braced himself and peeled it back, exposing the hollow inside the oak. Suddenly, after he had looked into the darkness, his eyes were focused, and he jumped up. It wasn’t drugs, nevertheless.
