Kamdym Pilan is a second-grade student who came home in tears one normal afternoon. His parents noticed something was off and were determined to understand what was troubling their young son. They repeatedly asked him questions until he showed him the feedback written on his homework.

After looking at it closely, his father Chris saw that it was not a helpful critique of his work whatsoever. He saw it as a personal attack on his son, so there was no way he was going to let it go. His response to this went viral, so let us find out what the teacher said!

Kamdyn was regularly well behaved, especially for being in second grade. He was not overly energetic or have an interest in video games, television, or junk food. That’s why it was shocking to his family when they understood the teacher was giving him rude remarks in school.

Chris took a look at his son’s homework and noticed a note written on it. He started to feel concerned about what happened that day. That’s when he began to take the situation more severe and wanted to further examine the matter. What he found was not what he expected.

Young Kamdyn is a second-grader at Valley View Elementary School. While the school itself is not particularly special and just your average public school, Kamdyn has made a reputation as being an overachiever. That’s why his parents were incredibly surprised to learn this news.

His parents were sure Camden was excelling at school. They were confident in their son, and themselves as parents and had no suspicions of problems at school. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the school year, Chris started to receive complaints about Kamdyn.

Kamdyn was a regular kid but his father always had high standards for him. He saw something special in Kamdyn and believed he was a good student. While other children were complaining about their homework, Kamdyn was excited to complete his assignments and had no issues finishing them.

When Kamdyn entered second-grade things started to change. Chris struggled to watch his son repeatedly fail and he knew something had to be done. He knew there had to be something else going on and he wanted to know what.

Kamdyn was not one of those children who were uneducated or uninterested in school. He was smart and his dad paid attention to the gradual decrease in his grades and effort. Chris was confident in his son and did not think it was like him to perform poorly.

Kamdyn returned home from school one afternoon with tears in his eyes. When his father took a look at his homework he noticed a rude comment written by his teacher Alyssa Rupp Bohenek. The not read “Absolutely pathetic! He answered 13 in 3 minutes! Sad!” Chris felt that this was just cruel.

Alyssa was working as a teacher for a substantial amount of time and she was known as a difficult teacher. After seeing this note it was quite clear that she and Kamdyn did not particularly get along well.

Everything Kamdyn did would catch her eye, and every mistake that he made would get a harsh written warning. This negative feedback clearly had an impact on the confidence and self-esteem of this poor child.

It is not out of line that Chris was so infuriated about the comment that was written on his son’s homework. It was unnecessary and out of line. She could have simply given constructive criticism but instead, she verbally assaulted this young boy.

After looking more into the situation, it started to become clear that it was only one of many negative comments that Mrs. Bohenek wrote that year. Chris was sure of himself and his decision to shed light on this issue since it was a reoccurring problem.

The majority of the comments written were offensive and personal. Chris is a reasonable guy and admits that if he felt the comments were fair then he wouldn’t have gone to such extremes. However, after he learned more he knew he could not let this go and it was time to pay a visit to the teacher.

In reality, it is not normal for a teacher to call her student pathetic. Chris was positive that no teacher should behave this way and is supposed to a role model for his/her students. If she was trying to help her students, maybe she needed to modify her approach.

Chris was infuriated and decided to take a stand against the teacher. He wanted the support of his community, thus he posted on Facebook to single out this teacher and her poor behavior. He was not the type to sit back and watch someone hurt his son. He felt strongly that she was abusing her power as a teacher.

At the same time, he felt her rude comments were unjust and not beneficial in any way. Kamdyn was a curious boy who always loved school and Chris was determined to bring this love for learning back.

The signature received 10,000 signatures after it was posted. While Chris had enough support behind him, Bohenek was slowly receiving her own backing. Teachers began to voice their opinions on the matter and felt she should not get fired for this incident.

Kamdyn had feelings of his own and it was time to hear them. When he asked about the situation, Kamdyn expressed how sad, upset, and even mad he was about the comment. The seven-year-old boy felt like it was just a mean thing to do.

Chris could go on and on about the issue and was seriously enraged about the entire situation. “I believe what you wrote on his paper was extremely unprofessional and just very rude and she messaged me back and said she was sorry I felt that way,” he explained.

The authority figures in a young child’s life are responsible for molding them into the person that they grow up to be. It is their responsibility to employ the right morals and set a good example. The elementary school decided to further investigate the situation and make sure the outcome was fair and correct. Chris updated his online supporters and said, “Thanks to all the efforts and support of the dedicated people who signed and shared this petition, I’m happy to announce that the teacher in question is currently being investigated by the Valley View school board.”

The school superintendent, Rose Minnity learned about the comments on Kamdyn’s paper and further examined the situation. She started by meeting with the Valley View School District and the teacher and then began a thorough investigation.

Minniti responded to the comments made by the media outlets and said, “As always with everything, we’re going to try to do what’s best for the students and what we need to do for the employee under investigation”. She also added, “It’s a personnel issue and the results of that are not going to be dictated by social media. It’s going to be dictated by the facts and evidence.”

All we can hope for is that this school finds justice, especially since people around the world are hoping the teacher gets fired. At that point, Chris managed to gather well over 20,000 signatures and everyone was curious about how the story would play out.
