It’s almost summer, and you know what that means… sunburn! No, it really doesn’t have to mean that! It could mean fruity drinks, healthy diet promises that we never keep and endless beach days, kind of. But despite loving beach days, there are some problems we all face spending a day at the coast. So here is a quick list of 5 beach hacks that will make going to the beach a breeze this summer.

Hide Your Cash

How hard is it to resist jumping into the cool sea when the sun is baking your winter-worn skin? But someone might come up and snatch your wallet, because let’s face it, beach bandits are not uncommon. If they steal your wallet you’ll lose your cash and your credit cards, and the picture you have of your dog who died last year, and heaven knows you don’t have a copy of it. And if you lose your credit card someone will probably buy plane tickets with it and you’ll get into trouble with your credit and you won’t be able to buy that new DSLR camera you’ve been saving up for to take on your next vacation in Bermuda. And if you don’t go to Bermuda you’ll have to work the whole summer and… STOP! Whew! All you have to do is take an unused diaper, or an unused Tampax pad and put your valuables in there. I guarantee you, no-one will touch those. See, that wasn’t such a big deal.

Bag Your Phone

Guys, I have to tell you that sand is like dessert. No matter how well you guard yourself against it, it always seems to get in. But there is a solution! Well at least when it comes to keeping your phone safe from the sand. Number two of 2019’s summer beach hacks comes simply from a plastic Ziploc sandwich bag. All you need to do is put your phone in the bag and easy as pie, you’ve got yourself a sand-free cellphone!

Highlight Your Hair

If you’re looking to add a little highlighting to your hair, all you need is a lemon, that big ball of heat called the sun, and, well, hair. Squeeze some lemon onto your hair and let the wonderful relationship of sun and lemon do the work. A couple of hours (or less) and you’ll have glorious lightened hair. This is definitely one of the easiest beach hacks out for 2019.

Cool Your Body

It’s no secret that ice cools down our bodies. It’s also no secret that aloe vera helps with burns. So what would happen if we mixed these two together? Well, you’d be cool as a cucumber, that’s what! Pick up an aloe vera bottle from your local pharmacy, but make sure it’s as close to 100% aloe vera as possible. Squeeze some into an ice tray and let it freeze. After spending a day in the sun, where you should have applied enough sunscreen throughout the day, whip out your aloe vera ice cubes. Gently rub the cubes across your body and feel the cooling sensation of your homemade heat reliever.

Freeze Your Bottles

No, that’s not slang for something else. It’s literally freezing the water bottles that you bring to the beach. The goal is that you can keep your cooler bag and all its contents fresh and cool, and you can also enjoy an iced drink while you lounge in the sun. If you’re willing to take it a step further, then think balloons. Fill balloons with water and then freeze them a few hours before heading out to the beach. After they’ve served their purpose and thawed, enjoy yourself a fun water-balloon fight!
